HISTORICAL REVIEW
Ministerial Order 37/70 (OJ No. 11) of January 14, 1970 formalized the creation of the CBA, which was inaugurated on March 9, 1970.
The creation of the CBA led to a boost to diving activity within the Navy.
As an example, the rescue ship BS-1 “Poseidon” was integrated into this unit, replaced by the current “Neptune”, the Special Unit of Combat Divers (UEBC), the Underwater Research Unit (UIS) and the Center for Diving Instruction (CIB), later called the Navy Diving School and today Military Diving School.
After these 50 years the CBA has varied in its composition but maintains its main tasks.
The experience and technical knowledge acquired have allowed the CBA to have a normative and doctrinal basis that have made military diving a safe activity - within the risks inherent in diving -, effective and efficient.
From this experience, other civil diving communities and the State Security Forces and Corps are nurtured.
