The Autonomous Community and the City Council of Cartagena collaborate in facilitating access to the social home to vulnerable groups in the municipality.
Thus begins a line of institutional cooperation that is part of the comprehensive strategy to enhance the value of the social housing park in the Region of Murcia that will improve the well-being of its residents.
This strategy has the priority objective of improving the habitability conditions of the regional housing stock, while promoting access to public housing ownership.
The Minister of Development and Infrastructure, José Ramón Díez de Revenga, who attended today the meeting of the Local Housing Board of Cartagena with the mayor of the municipality, Ana Belén Castejón, stressed that "the initiative of the town hall makes it the first municipality with which to start this new regional strategy ".
Both institutions "will join forces" to determine the specific area of ​​intervention and determine what kind of improvements must be made to revitalize these homes.
These issues will be reflected in a protocol, in which they are already working, that will determine the number of homes to be improved and their investment.
Díez de Revenga stressed that one of the priorities of the regional Executive is to develop measures that "guarantee the fundamental right to create a home, especially those who have more difficulties, and have the possibility of acquiring a family heritage that can pass to their sons".
"Social housing policies can only be addressed successfully if they are considered as a close collaboration between administrations," said the counselor, who indicated that "we work together with the municipalities, because it is they who have the pulse of the social needs of their neighbors ".
