The luminaries of the Plaza de Alicante have been renewed by the Department of Infrastructure, with the replacement of 24 high-pressure sodium vapor projectors with four LED projectors that, as noted by the Area Councilor, María Casajús, "will reduce consumption by 70% and will contribute to the modernization of public lighting to make it more efficient and sustainable. "
These works will continue, according to Casajús, at the junctions of the Paseo de Alfonso XIII with the streets Wssell de Guimbarda, Juan Fernández and Ramón y Cajal, where a total of forty projectors are currently distributed, which will be replaced by six new units, decreasing electricity consumption greater than eighty-three percent.
Specifically, it will go from an installed capacity of 18,400 watts to 15,400 watts.
The mayor stressed that "with an investment of 6,000 euros, these actions involve a reduction of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere of about twenty-six tons per year, lower consumption and more savings", within the Energy Efficiency Plan for the improvement of lighting public in the municipality of Cartagena.
