The security problems and the denunciations of the neighbors of the Cartagena deputations for the repeated episodes of insecurity that have been going on for months, have led the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, to go one step further in her claims.
In a new letter to the Government delegate, José Vélez, the mayor has requested the urgent holding of an extraordinary Local Security Board in which the City Council and Government Delegation jointly analyze the situation and seek solutions.
Repeated assaults and robberies in homes and farms have been happening for months in different parts of the municipality of Cartagena.
Thus, the residents of deputations such as Pozo Estrecho, La Aljorra, La Palma, El Albujón and riverside towns have taken to the streets asking for more security forces.
It is not the first time that the mayor of Cartagena has sent these requests to the Government Delegate.
In February, the first mayor already requested a meeting with José Vélez to discuss this matter.
“It is urgent that from the City Council and the Government Delegation we analyze the reality of the situation and establish possible solutions to improve the security of the neighbors,†said Castejón.
“We are not the only ones who have reached this concern to the Government Delegate: we are aware that from some neighborhood boards, such as Pozo Estrecho, they have also contacted him asking for more Civil Guard personnel to guarantee security and the tranquility to the neighbors â€, he stressed.
With this new request, the mayor hopes to hold a Local Security Board, on an urgent basis, in which to be able to deal with security in the neighborhoods and districts of Cartagena in a monographic manner.
