The situation of the families of the San Diego neighborhood and the projects carried out by Cáritas in the area were some of the points of analysis of the visit of the Councilor for Social Services, Mercedes García, to the Caritas Social Center of San Diego.

A tour of the facilities she has done accompanied by the director of the Social Center, the social worker and the pastor of San Diego, Quini Ferrando.

During the meeting, those responsible for the center have explained the different projects that are carried out from the entity and have shared with the mayor of Social Services their needs and fundamental actions to work during this 2020.

Thus, with the aim of improving the coordination of the different interventions that are carried out in the area and with the commitment to improve these joint work spaces, meetings and meetings will take place periodically to address information channels on housing, application of resources and reinforcement of work in the community, as well as the implementation of care for the most vulnerable.

In addition, Mercedes García has transferred to the entity that, during this year, one of the priority actions that will be developed from the Department of Social Services will be the full recovery of the Helmet, so they have asked for their collaboration that the mayor considers fundamental.

"Caritas Social Center of San Diego has been developing an important work in the area and develops numerous actions of attention to children, coverage of basic needs and promotion of the family, mainly," recalled Mercedes Garcia.

COLLABORATION WITH THE FERMACIÓN PESQUEROS FOUNDATION

The Department of Social Services will analyze ways of collaboration and coordination of different actions of the Hermanos Pesqueros Foundation in Cartagena.

The Councilor for Social Services, Mercedes García, last week received representatives of the Foundation, who presented the projects they intend to develop in the short term in the area.

This Foundation, which has recently established its headquarters in Cartagena, has a long history of work in cities such as Madrid, where they develop projects for the care of the elderly, promotion of volunteering and groups in situations of social exclusion.
