The Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) and the Network of Municipal Libraries have signed a collaboration agreement for the promotion of reading, through direct access to the Electronic Books Loan Platform of municipal libraries from LeoCMN, the platform for UPCT digital content loan.
6,000 students and 1,000 employees of the Polytechnic University can make use of the services of the Municipal Library Network thanks to this innovative agreement, which has a duration of four years, with two extensions.
The act of presentation of the agreement took place on Monday, March 2, where the councilor of the Area of Culture, Youth and Equality, David Martnez, explained that "we are always working hand in hand and this morning we join so that all these books electronic that we have in the library platform, also accessible to all students and teachers of the UPCT. With this agreement, the mayor stressed that "adds a little more to that innovation that is always at the head of the Polytechnic University from Cartagena and the Municipal Library Network. "David Martnez also stressed that they hope that thanks to this project," this encourages many more e-book readers. "
For his part, the director of the technology area of the company Odilo, Miguel Rodrguez, said that it is an “innovative project, which allows users to enjoy content through technology, is a pioneer in Spain” .
The director of Odilo has also expressed his gratitude to the City Council and the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, for the trust placed in his company for this project.
The Odilo company is the one who with its application has built the bridge between the two institutions to get a little closer to the wonderful adventure of reading.
The Vice Chancellor of Information Technology and Communications of the UPCT, Mathieu Kessler, said that from the University they are delighted to participate in a project like this since “it is an example, a case of success, in which technology is at the service, not only of training, but of culture ”.
And he stressed the importance of working to promote reading and culture in general, while thanking all the people who are part of the project.
The event was also attended by the head of the municipal library service, Mara del Carmen Rodal.
