The Entre Cuerdas y Metales Contest, organized by the Department of Youth and the Conservatory of Music of Cartagena, of regional character, celebrates this year its XXIII edition.
In these 23 years, this event has contributed successfully to the discovery of young talents of music, who develop, today, an important musical career inside and outside our country.
It has also served as an instrument for the promotion of classical music among the youngest, resulting in the emergence of numerous projects initiated in recent years following the implementation of the contest.
THE YOUNG CARTAGENA SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
A clear example of this is the Young Symphony Orchestra of Cartagena, which was born in April 2016 and that from that same year until now develops a high concert activity in our city, offering the possibility to young musical talents the opportunity to develop their abilities interpreters in a symphonic formation, allowing them to reach their full potential as musicians and performers, while enriching their social and cultural environment, and the dissemination of music in our city.
Currently the Young Symphony Orchestra of Cartagena, has a bag composed of more than 100 instrumentalists not only from the Region of Murcia, but from other Communities such as Madrid, Castilla La Mancha, Valencian Community, Andalusia and the Balearic Islands.
COMPETITION BETWEEN STRINGS AND METALS
How could it be otherwise Between Strings and Metals is celebrating, like many other cities in the world, the 250th Anniversary of the birth of Ludwig Van Beethoven among the activities and concerts that are being programmed throughout the year, presented together with the JOSCT this special concert dedicated entirely to the great composer, in a unique setting such as the Casino de Cartagena.
The First Part had the performance of the pianist Guillermo Pintado Hernández, awarded in the Entre Cuerdas y Metales contest on several occasions, and is currently studying with a scholarship "Ferrer Salat" the Third course of higher studies at the Conservatori del Liceu of Barcelona.
He masterfully interpreted one of Beethoven's Sonatas (the Second of Op.10).
Beethoven Piano Sonatas are one of the most rigorous contributions to the history of key music of all ages and an essential point of piano literature.
In the Second Part, the JOSCT with the type of grouping called “Harmoniemusikâ€, composed of:

They offered the public a unique and different opportunity than usual to listen to Beethoven's Seventh Symphony, under the baton of its titular director Álvaro Pintado Hernández, delighting the large audience this Saturday, February 29, at the Casino de Cartagena.
