The Half Marathon test and the 11-kilometer race organized by the City Council of Cartagena and the Mandarache Triathlon Club, in collaboration with the different athletics clubs of Cartagena will take place tomorrow Sunday, March 1, as planned, although It will give the option of returning the registration fee to runners who choose not to participate in the air pollution episode.
This decision has been adopted by the organizers after analyzing the situation and after hearing the criteria of the medical direction of the test.
According to the information provided by the Department of Environment, air quality is optimal in all parameters, except in PM-10 particle levels as a result of the presence of dust of African origin throughout the Region.
These levels are falling and the presence of particles is expected to continue to decrease in the next few hours, although it is difficult to determine at what rate.
At the time of the meeting, the particle levels had returned to those of 20 hours the previous day;
although it is true, that level 3 recommends the population, on a preventive basis, not to perform intense physical exercise outdoors.
Regarding the system for returning the registration fee for those who decide not to participate in the test, it has been requested that, starting on Monday, they send an e-mail to the address escuelatriatlonct@gmail.com with their name, surname, DNI, Dorsal Number and IBAN Banking, to proceed to the verification and subsequent return of the money.
This information has been sent by the organization by email to all the runners enrolled in the test.
The meeting was attended by athletics clubs: La Manga, Runtritón, Marathon Cartagena, Manzanicos, Cartagena Excursion Center, UCAM Cartagena, Sierra Gorda, Cuatro Santos and Zancadas on Wheels.
As well as the Councilor Delegate of Sports, Diego Ortega, the medical director of the test, the head of Sports Promotion of the Department, as well as different officials involved in the organization of the test.
