The Sabic Company Committee met on Friday afternoon, March 28, with the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, as well as the councilors responsible for the Agency for Local Development and Employment (ADLE), Irene Ruiz, and Company, Cristina Pérez, in the City Hall to express concern about the reasons and consequences of the employment regulation file announced by the company.
“The Committee has asked us for our support so that we intercede with the company and also achieve, with the help of the regional government, the relocation of the 92 people who will be affected by the closure of the HPP plant within the factory.
We have made themselves available and we will work with them as soon as they need, ”said Castejón.
In this regard, the proposal of the Company Committee to seek internal relocation involves offering incentive withdrawals, as well as setting up a plan for early retirement.
The workers consider that it is a clear relocation towards Asia / Pacific by the company, since it intends to close the La Aljorra plant to open another one in Asia, and they have denounced that while in the last year the production has been around 25%, since it was announced the ERE has risen to around 100%.
In addition, they are not satisfied with the number of workers that Sabic has included in the file, since a total of 17 are people in charge of maintenance, EHS and laboratory, who have performed the same tasks in the rest of the plants that the company has in La Aljorra, as versatile staff.
