This is the next step to carry out this ordinance once Law 6/2017, of November 8, on the protection and defense of companion animals of the Region of Murcia is in force;
Although the area of Health has already advanced work in this area and has a draft based on the previous work of the Department and the advice of the lawyer Amada Paredes, legal adviser of Equalia.
In this sense, the commitment of the owner of the area, Manuel Padín, is that the new Ordinance will come to light in the coming dates with significant changes with respect to the previous regulations to adapt it to the Law.
As stated by the mayor himself, the text will ensure the care of animals, but also urban furniture.
In this sense, the councilor of Health has explained that the new ordinance will seek that citizens control where they urinate their pets in order that they do not involve a deterioration of municipal furniture such as street lamps or wastebaskets.
Therefore, control over those owners who violate this section of the regulations will be increased and, in case of resulting in penalties, the collection will be reinvested in animal welfare.
Manuel Padín stressed that the new Ordinance will have the consensus of all the agents involved in it, from protectors, to municipal technicians and Local Police.
"It has to be the norm of all because that will be the basis for compliance, as part of the opinion of all for the sake of our pets," said the mayor, who added that an important part of compliance with The regulations belong to the citizens themselves.
In fact, the new Ordinance contemplates awareness campaigns in favor of adoption.
In addition, one of the most important changes in the new text will be the implementation of the Municipal Animal Protection Office, whose objective is to ensure full compliance with the ordinance in close collaboration with the security forces and bodies, as well as with the Citizen Unit of Animal Welfare, also newly created, which will be a body of volunteers belonging to animal groups and citizens in charge of supporting the Office.
