This noon has begun the execution of the precautionary measures decreed last Monday by the Department of Urban Planning and affecting the building cataloged Aire and Cuatro Santos streets, which last Sunday collapsed part of the median and forced to cut these two streets for safety.

The decree was communicated to the company that owns the property that has met the municipal requirements and has begun to condition the annexed plot to allow the entrance of the machinery with which the demolition of those elements that offer a danger will be carried out immediately of imminent collapse, such as the mediating wall and a roof shed, as well as the shoring of the structure, to prevent further landslides.

The Councilor for Public Safety and Public Services, Juan Pedro Torralba, said that in the last hours there had been new landslides, so the measures taken by the City Council have been correct.

In this way, he has affirmed that Cuatro Santos and del Aire streets will remain cut while the tasks last.

At the same time, the Department of Urban Planning started last Monday the file for the Ministry of Culture to authorize the interior demolition of the building, given that it is in the protection area of ​​the Roman Theater, maintaining the facade, protected with grade 3.

Initially, the shoring of the façade will be carried out outside the building, until its interior can be demolished and then transfer the fastening systems to the interior of the site.
