The Great Women have their place in the Plastihistoria (25/02/2020)

The Municipal Archaeological Museum 'Enrique Escudero de Castro' hosts the exhibition Grandes Mujeres en la Plastihistoria, composed of 20 scenes elaborated in an artisanal way and unique in clay.

In it, the life of important women of all time is narrated, who have been pioneers in various fields such as arts, science, politics or sports.

This Tuesday, February 25, the exhibition has been inaugurated, which will remain open to the public until May 18, International Museum Day.

The Councilor of the Area of ​​Culture, David Martínez, explained that it is the fourth exhibition of the Educa Foundation that they exhibit in the Museum, due to the great interest generated by their projects for their originality and also for the possibilities that they have as a didactic resource , having a great reception with both young and adult audiences.

The mayor stressed that the exhibition opens to the public in March to collaborate in the visibility of women in the public sphere: politics, science, arts, etc.

The exhibition pays tribute to some of the most relevant women and in some cases little recognized in history: politicians, heroines, music paints, astronomers, athletes or scientists, through those 20 scenes modeled with common clay, which combine entertainment and dissemination cultural.

The exhibition covers from Prehistory to the 21st century, and on the way we find Cleopatra, Saint Teresa of Jesus, Hipatia of Alexandria, Sofonisba Anguissola, Barbara Strozzi or Frida Kalho, among others.

On the other hand, the secretary of the Educa Foundation, Jorge Pelaez, has indicated that it is a new project, since it began just a year ago.

"This is a different route to what we usually do, a journey through history with women as protagonists," explained the secretary.

It is an innovative project that combines fun with learning, "we want people who leave our exhibitions to have learned something."

Visiting hours are Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

There will also be guided tours for groups in a specialized way, which can be requested through the web and on Saturdays and Sundays at 12:00 hours at the Museum reception.
