The chief prosecutor of Cartagena has decreed the file of the investigation proceedings followed at the request of the Councilor of MC Cartagena, Isabel García, to clarify the possible commission of a crime of embezzlement of public flows by the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, for the Christmas gift to the municipal employees of 1,600 headphones in whose boxes his name appeared next to his office of the City of Cartagena.
In its decree on file, the prosecutor notes that she does not see rational indications of criminality in the purchase and its subsequent delivery to the officials, since in the proceedings carried out the existence of said protocol attention, its budgetary coverage and the approval of the invoice by the competent municipal bodies;
so that the initial signs of embezzlement remain without content
Regarding the recording of the name of the mayor in the gifts, the car notes that “as obvious as the headphone box may seem, it is similar to an envelope where a Christmas greeting card with the rubric of the mayor was inserted in the letterhead â€and that this fact“ could hardly be said to constitute a criminal offense, nor could there be any kind of accounting or disciplinary responsibility â€.
