The countdown to the Cartagena processions begins on Wednesday with the 'Call' (25/02/2020)

On Ash Wednesday, the countdown to the Holy Week processions will be marked again in Cartagena with the traditional Call: an act in which the four brotherhoods communicate to the City Council their decision to take the processions to the street and ask for authorization to the First municipal authority, to end the day with an offering in the Basilica of Charity.

From seven in the afternoon of tomorrow, February 26, it is expected that the different general councils of the four brotherhoods will meet: marrajos, californio, the resurrected and the relief, to take stock and start up their organizational machinery with a view To the parades.

In entourage the four older brothers, will then go to the City Hall, to the sounds of Holy Week marches, where at 20:30 hours the mayor will receive them along with the rest of the Corporation, to request permission from the City Hall from the main balcony to take out the processions, through the president of the Brotherhoods Board, Francisco Pagán.

The City Council, through the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, will not only give it to her, but will also give her the "check" which reflects the economic aid that she directly grants to the four brotherhoods for the organization of the parades.

The event will conclude with the invitation of the mayor to announce to the `people of Cartagena that this year there will be processions and the cry of“ music and the street ”.

Ediles, cofrades, processionists and citizens will then go to the Basilica of Charity, where the traditional offering to the popular patroness of the Virgin of Charity will be made.
