The Urban Planning Area of ​​the City Council of Cartagena has begun the process to declare the imminent ruin of the building located at the corner of Cuatro Santos and Aire streets that collapsed on the afternoon of this Sunday, as well as the demolition and demolition of its interior, but preserving the facade, which is mandatory since it is a building listed with Level 3.
In addition, being in the vicinity of the Roman Theater, this action has to be authorized by the Ministry of Culture, and while the permit is effective, a series of preventive measures have been adopted, such as the exterior shoring of the facade and the demolition of elements that present imminent risk of falling.
Once the internal demolition is carried out, the shoring will be placed inside.
In the early morning of this Monday, February 24, municipal technicians, specifically two riggers and an architect, have moved to the area to carry out an exhaustive inspection on the state of the structure of the building and have contacted the owner, who has shown his collaboration to correct the damage and demolition of the building.
The mayor of Public Safety and Public Road, Juan Pedro Torralba, said that "until you rule out any risk of further landslides or the possibility of collapse of the building, Calle del Aire and Cuatro Santos street will continue to be closed".
Likewise, neighboring neighbors have been advised to go to family homes until any type of danger is ruled out.
Remember that the collapse of the building, which was uninhabited, occurred around 7 pm this Sunday, without being injured.
