The School Transportation Control Campaign that the General Traffic Directorate launched from February 3 to 7 with the collaboration of the Local Police, settled in Cartagena with 2 complaints from among the 17 vehicles that were reviewed.
Throughout the Region there were 282 buses that passed through the different controls, of which 43 were reported.
The work of the Local Police in these controls consisted of conducting inspections on vehicles (authorizations and documents, technical conditions and safety elements, belts and restraint systems) and on drivers (driving license, driving times and breaks), especially on conventional roads and urban roads.
It must be remembered that 90% of accidents that occur during school transport take place at the time of getting in or out of the vehicle, or in the immediate moments and, in many cases, they are abuses caused by a child's distraction , of the driver of the school transport or of the companions.
The importance of school transport in urban areas, mainly in places where there is a greater concentration of schools, makes the participation of all municipalities in this type of campaigns have extraordinary relevance.
