Work to close access to abandoned homes of Los Naranjos residential, in La Palma, has already begun.
Partition tasks are being carried out on the doors and windows of the houses and the closing of the crossing that allows entry into the living room where the houses are located is studied.
The deputy mayor, Manuel Padín, has checked the works on Monday and the operators have informed him of the action plans, which include raising a wall that prevents access to the street and also increase the height of the rear walls of the households.
The municipal mayor has assessed the possibility of installing a metal security fence instead of the outer wall to see if someone accesses the urbanization;
a proposal that will be studied due to its lower cost and its security advantages.
During his visit to the works, the deputy mayor has been accompanied by the president of the La Palma neighborhood council, Pedro Obradors, and has coincided with two neighbors in the area who have indicated that there are other homes, on Ebano Street, that they are being squatted and that they also need a municipal action.
In this sense, Manuel Padín has affirmed that from the City Council this possibility will be studied to guarantee the safety and health of these houses.
And, the abandonment of these houses had turned the area into a focus of unhealthiness, where a significant amount of garbage had accumulated and had caused pests of insects and rodents that had alarmed the neighbors.
