This morning, the Councilor of the municipal group MC Cartagena, Isabel García, has addressed another of the many outstanding issues of the local Executive, the relative to the current state of the markets in the municipality, in need of immediate actions that make street sales an option attractive commercial for potential customers while dignifying the working conditions of professionals in the sector.
In line with this situation, representatives of the Cartagena formation, among which Garcia was, made, a few dates ago, a visit to the market of the Mediterranean Urbanization to verify, on the ground, the enormous difficulties that they have to overcome daily who work in this and other markets in the municipality.
García has started his argument by stating that "in the specific case of the 'Urba', the abandonment of Councilor Torralba allows vehicles to circulate through the streets of the market with the consequent danger to customers who have to circumvent them."
"As we have been reporting since June, this Government is missing the small and the great equally. In MC we consider that dignifying the working conditions of the sector is a matter of great importance because we talk about 1,500 licenses in total. Many families they get their livelihood from this activity, an argument that should be more than enough to be included in the immediate agenda, "he reasoned.
Essential challenges to improve the performance of the sector
As concrete measures, the Cartagena councilor has announced that MC will require "the urgent call of the Ambulatory Sale Board, paralyzed with the new Government, as well as the award of improvements in the different markets and that of vacancies, which amount to three hundred according the calculations of the sector. This translates into money without raising and, most seriously, families unable to work. "
In a complementary way, the Cartagenerist leader has declared that her training will demand an advertising campaign from the sector, as has been done in the city of Murcia, "and call for aid to use them in the aesthetic improvement of the posts."
In another order of things, Isabel García has defended the suitability of "studying, separately, the needs in terms of positions of each market, especially with regard to transmissions or change of activity. Regional law, for example, prohibits the change to a different activity to maintain market stability. "
The mayor has concluded by adding that it is also necessary to deepen "a regulation for the sale of used clothing that regulates free competition and ensures compliance with the proper health conditions."
