MC demands that the Government take immediate measures to tackle the alarming insecurity suffered by the residents of La Aljorra (13/02/2020)

This morning, the members of MC by the Municipal Neighborhood Board of La Aljorra, María Ester Guzmán and José Miguel Méndez, giving continuity to the concern of our formation, shared with the different neighborhood groups, for the growing citizen insecurity accentuated in different deputations of the municipality, they have registered, in the administrative building of San Miguel, an extraordinary plenary request from their Neighborhood Board to deal with "directly, unitary and exclusive", the situation of insecurity that is lived daily in the county of La Aljorra.

This is the second Plenary promoted by MC to address this problem.

The first one was held few dates ago on La Palma.

Guzmán and Méndez have been accompanied by the Cartagena councilors at the Consistory, José López, Jesús Giménez, Isabel García, María José Soler and Enrique Pérez.

It is possible to contextualize that last December, PP, Citizens and transfugees rejected the motion that MC presented to provide more police means to La Aljorra.

That day the still photo remained for the memory;

they prefer to cover their ineptitude and neglect to recognize a real problem that affects the day-to-day life of the neighbors.

Guzmán has started arguing the neighborhood concern about "the insecurity suffered by neighbors. Thefts and entrances to homes are continuous, in addition to the assault on vehicles. We are completely neglected and abandoned. We do not have a local police patrol. And if we complain , they send us one that circulates there for a few hours but that disappears the next day.The neighborhood feeling is totally neglected and people are afraid to walk through its streets.There is no right and as vowels we are in need and, above all , in the responsibility of requesting this Plenary. "

For his part, José Miguel Méndez recalled the numerous neighborhood attempts to claim a greater number of Civil Guard troops from the Government Delegation, a claim that goes back years ago, after even holding meetings with the Executive delegate.

"Right now there are five troops attached to the El Albujón headquarters, when thirteen would correspond to us. Due to the extent of this demarcation, the number is ridiculous."

Battery of concrete measures

The objective of the Cartagener initiative, aimed at tackling the problem described, aims to give voice to the neighbors, main experts on the situation they face daily.

More specifically, the text refers to the need to increase the presence of local police in La Aljorra, enabling a stay of the Civic Center as a base for patrols serving in the area.

In addition, it would be very beneficial for the second activity agent serving OMITA to be relocated to the Civic Center to increase the sense of security in the area, as well as to facilitate the work of the Body's professionals.

Similarly, promote the necessary steps so that other bodies and security forces such as the Civil Guard, in a coordinated manner with the City Council, have more means.

Other aspects developed refer to the suitability of encouraging training and information, through the Fire Department, to especially sensitive groups in La Aljorra, in addition to urging the Cartagena City Council to prepare the Self-Protection Plan for the Children's Center of La Aljorra , which opened its doors without complying with the obligation to have a necessary document to prevent and control risks on people and property and provide adequate response to possible emergency situations.
