The 'If you feel drowned is not love' campaign brings two new workshops on masculinity and ethnic diversity to the Cartagena institutes (13/02/2020)

If you feel drowned, it is not love, it is the campaign that will be carried out this year in 17 institutes of the municipality, organized by the Department of Equality of the City Council of Cartagena and that is part of the Educational Program for the Promotion of Equality and Prevention and Awareness of Gender Violence.

The program is funded from credits received from the Ministry of the Presidency, Relations with the Courts and Equality.

The activities framed in this campaign were presented this Thursday, on the eve of Valentine's Day, by the Councilor for Equality, David Martínez, and the coordinator of the Department of Equality, María José Mercader.

The main objective of the program is, as reported by Councilor for Equality, David Martínez, "eradicate the Violence Machistas through a broad and strong awareness and prevention in secondary schools in the municipality of Cartagena, through recreational and participatory workshops" , to which this year two themes are included as a novelty: New Masculinities, towards positive masculinity and ethnic diversity.

In addition, another new activity in the educational centers will be a Freestyle Rap, with two young artists with the collaboration of the UrbanCT program of the Department of Youth.

As is tradition, stickers will be distributed to schools and bracelets will be distributed with the slogan "If you feel drowned It is not Love."

Likewise, posters will be placed both in secondary schools, health centers, public buildings and urban furniture, as the campaign also seeks to create social awareness in the general public.

Its specific objectives include a greater social commitment in the eradication of gender-based violence, identifying attitudes and ideas that create and reproduce stereotyped roles, beliefs and prejudices that condition behaviors by maintaining unequal traditional topics, most likely transmitted through education. from one generation to another.

It also aims to disseminate thoughts on models of affective relationships based on values ​​of equality, empathy, respect and reciprocity, promoting healthy loves and equal relationships, as well as making known the support resource of the Center for Attention to Victims of Gender Violence (CAVI), located in the Department of Equality.

Thanks to the program, an increase in the number of care and interventions for girls victims of gender violence in the CAVI Resource has been detected and a group of therapy, development and mutual support with young girls between 14 and 19 years of age has been continued under the direction from the center.

OTHER INTERVENTIONS

Professionals in collaboration with AMAIN (Murcia Association of Support for Abused Children) conduct a workshop of 4 sessions of self-care, sexuality and good treatment relationships for girls from 16 to 22 years entitled Together we are stronger, on February 12 and 26 and March 11 and 25

A psychologist of the CAVI will intervene on March 2 at the Department of Equality, with the second student of Social Integration of the Mediterranean IES in a workshop on Prevention and Awareness of Machista Violence

In the Empowerment School, the Acting and Defense workshop is taught in the event of possible sexual assault, for adolescents aged 14 to 17, on February 7, 8, 14

GREAT ACCEPTANCE BY THE CENTERS

Number of beneficiaries:

2016: 1,900 students.

2017: 2,036 students.

2018: 6,300 students.

2019: 6,800 students.

By 2020, participation is expected to be similar to last year.

The poster design, made by the designer of the brand Life is cool, Silvia Lara, shows a subtle bond, representing the confusion of a healthy love, with an oppressive and controlling love that is sometimes exercised in relationships partner.
