The Councilor for Social Services, Mercedes García Gómez, held this Wednesday, February 12, a meeting with the president of the NGO Coordinator for Development of the Region of Murcia, Moises Navarro, in which they have agreed to increase the actions that serve to promote and value the joint work that is done with the 25 entities that comprise it.
This entity is responsible for the coordination and promotion of the joint work of all the organizations that comprise it, which share a common code of conduct, based on basic principles of action on the type of development they promote, as well as the poverty against which they fight and the cooperation they promote with the most vulnerable peoples in the world.
During the meeting, the Coordinator has been able to learn about the actions that have been carried out at the municipal level in cooperation, during the more than 25 years that this City Council is contributing jointly to the development of the most disadvantaged countries.
Another issue discussed has been the entities that are working in this area at the local level and the coordination and support provided with the existing associative fabric in the area of ​​Development Cooperation.
The president of the Coordinator, for his part, has pledged to send a proposal to promote and value the joint work of local organizations and entities that operate in the field of International Development Cooperation, in order to promote awareness-raising actions. and of Education for development in Cartagena.
From the Department of Social Services, through its technical units with competence in cooperation, support these initiatives so that they can materialize.
