The Community is committed to promoting the Port of Cartagena as a reference point in the Mediterranean for the maintenance of platform vessels, or offshore industry.
The Secretary General of the Ministry of Development and Infrastructure, Enrique Ujaldón, showed his support for the Port Authority of Cartagena during the presentation of the first day 'Cartagena off-shore Conference', to be held in September.
Ujaldón highlighted the benefits that for the Region of Cartagena and for the Region of Murcia would have the platform ships choose to the Port of Cartagena for long maintenance stays, since “they provide continuous work to both repair companies, supply of materials and transport, as to others in the hotel or restaurant sector â€.
The objective is to “place Cartagena on the map of the maintenance of this type of ships and put the focus on the potential of the Port facilities and the services that companies and institutions of the Region of Cartagena can provide to this industry, as well like the rest of the Region, â€said Ujaldón, who added that this activity“ can help boost the economy of the region, boost development and generate new jobs. â€
