The Spanish women's tennis team will travel to Budapest in April after qualifying this weekend for the final phase of the Federation Cup.
After the matches played on Friday 7 and Saturday 8 February against Japan at the sports facilities of La Manga Club, the Spanish achieved the pass by winning the third point of the tie with the victory of Carla Suárez against Kurumi Nara, before an audience which was around two thousand spectators.
Among these tennis fans were the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, the president of the Autonomous Community, Fernando López Miras, and the vice mayor, Noelia Arroyo, who before the game, participated in the tribute to Arantxa Sánchez Vicario, who received the Fed Cup Commitment Award presented by the International Tennis Federation.
Then, the tie was decided in a match of just over an hour, in which Suarez, number 55 in the ranking, beat Nara 6-1 and 6-3 and met the expectations of the Spanish team by sentencing 3- 0 definitive.
