For the sixth consecutive year, within the solidarity days 'Here we just want to be human', framed in the Cartagena Think program carried out by the Department of Culture of the City of Cartagena, there will be a concentration in the Port of Cartagena, in the dock of the whale's tail, to honor the memory of migrants whose bodies were sunk in the sea or fallen on the different migratory routes, this Sunday, February 9, at 12:00 noon.
The act is expected to go to the Councilor for Social Services, Mercedes Garcia.
The concentration is organized by the associations Circle of Silence, Accem, Red Cross, Murcia Hosts, Alraso, Fund.
Cepaim, La Huertecica, Rascasa, Ghanaian Association, Malian Association, Columbares, Adult Education Group Carmen Conde and Department of Social Services and Culture.
In addition, the Department of Sociology of the University of Murcia, the Friends of Ritsona and Cartagena Piensa Association collaborates with the support of the Cartagena City Council.
In the presentation text of the concentration it is indicated that these migrants who died in the Mediterranean “played their lives and lost it when they were looking for something as legitimate and fair as peace, freedom, work and a decent life for themselves and their families.
We do not want, in any way, to accept as normal the tragic end of so many innocent lives.
We will assume our responsibility as human beings, honoring and dignifying their memory, their lives and their truncated dreams. ”
