The Equality Council met on the morning of this Thursday, February 6, to analyze the actions and initiatives carried out during the past 2019 and collect the proposals for this year.
In addition, the councilman David Martínez, has taken advantage of the meeting with the 12 groups that make up the council to present the first draft of the new Equality Plan.
“Among the challenges that are presented to us for 2020, the approval of the new Equality Plan stands out, so we have presented this morning the draft in the Council, so that everyone can make their contributions and we can write a document that gathers all the current needs”, has assured the mayor of Equality.
The councilor recalled that the only Municipal Equality Plan that has the City of Cartagena is almost 30 years, since it was presented in the 90s, "so it is very important to approve the new as soon as possible."
Throughout the past year, numerous actions have been carried out to raise awareness about equality, diversity and prevention against gender violence.
Highlights campaigns aimed at students of Secondary and Baccalaureate 'If you feel drowned is not love', with which they reached more than 3,200 young people with a total of 118 workshops.
In the same way, 63 workshops of values ​​education were given, especially focused on Primary students, and in which 1,800 children of the municipality learned new tools to resolve conflicts, to touch a flamenco box, to appreciate non-violent toys and not sexists and value the role of women in all areas of society.
In addition, the Ethnic and Sexual Diversity unit was created, focused on socially recognizing racial minorities and diverse identities, empowering Roma women and favoring social cohesion.
