A trio of exceptional musicians will star in the VII Extraordinary Concert of Between Strings and Metals (31/01/2020)

The Entre Cuerdas y Metales Contest, organized by the Department of Youth and the Conservatory of Music of Cartagena, celebrates its XXIII edition this year, and will begin with the VII Extraordinary Concert, which was presented this Friday, January 31 at the Auditorium Terrace municipal El Batel.

This edition continues the tradition of having the presence of former regional prize winners, who have consolidated and reaped numerous successes in their musical careers, and together with the Cartagena Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Leonardo Martínez, will offer a unique concert on March 5, at the El Batel Municipal Auditorium.

An extraordinary concert that pays tribute to the 250th anniversary of the birth of one of the “greats†in the history of music, Ludwig van Beethoven.

The Councilor for Culture, Youth and Equality, David Martínez, highlighted as a novelty that on this occasion three extraordinary musicians will meet on the stage of the Batel, former winners of the contest between strings and metals, performing one of the great masterpieces of music : the Concerto for violin, cello and piano in C major, op.

56, commonly known as the Triple Concert, being the only concert that Beethoven composed for more than one solo instrument, a unique and different combination.

The three protagonists of this year are:

Felipe Rodríguez García, violin.

Irene Ortega Albaladejo, cello.

(I Award VIII Edition ECyM)

Gabriel Escudero Braquehais, piano.

(I Prize II Edition ECyM)

David Martínez explained that Entre Cuerdas y Metales continues with the dynamics of making classical music known to the youngest, so it will be carried out in collaboration with the Department of Education, Open Days for schoolchildren, in one rehearsals, where you can meet first-hand musicians, conductor and soloists, and find out how an orchestra works in the assembly of the works to perform on the day of the concert.

Ticket sales are at El Batel Auditorium and the price is € 8, with a 50% discount for conservatory students and 50% discount for young people.

For its part, the director of the Conservatory of Music of Cartagena, Mª José Castaño, said that, in addition to the discounts, from the Conservatory they will offer schedule facilities for students to attend.

The manager of the Cartagena Symphony Orchestra, Manuel Rives, explained that in the first part they will interpret the Beethoven Coriolan Overture, whose central theme is the hero's freedom and then the Triple Concert will begin.

“Cartagena has a symphony orchestra with enormous artistic potential formed by a staff of more than 40 musicians,†concluded Rives.

Also present were two of the three soloists of the concert: the cellist, Irene Ortega, and the pianist, Gabriel Escudero.

At the end of the press conference, Irene Ortega, has performed a small piece before the audience, Debussy Syrinx.
