On the occasion of the 2020 Chair Campus and the UPCT Social Council Awards related to employability and better 2019 chair, a colloquium talk was held this Wednesday, January 29, on the relationship of the UPCT Chairs Network with the Cartagena City Hall in the hall of the neo-Gothic chapel of the Rectorate.
The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, has encouraged all municipalities and companies in the Region to collaborate with the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, through the signing of agreements or the signing of chairs, which contribute to the transfer of knowledge and development of new technologies, as well as their application to improve the lives of citizens.
In addition, Castejón has indicated that the City Council of Cartagena is collaborating with the Polytechnic in various chairs and proposals such as the Facade Plan, which is still in the process of adaptation, and a brainstorm for the rehabilitation of buildings.
In reference to the Navantia Shipyard, whose director has joined the meeting held today at the UPCT, the mayor has stressed that she is a pioneer and that “it will be an example of how to carry out a new industrial plan to professionalize those trades that are needed , analyzing the reality of the shipyard and demonstrating how from Cartagena industrial development can be contributed to the region and the Spanish east â€.
As for the Marnys company, Ana Belén Castejón explained that it is in a large “premium†polygon that is still to be developed and where all administrations are working, with the aim of placing the logistics action area there and providing it with all The means you need.
Likewise, the mayor has highlighted her commitment to innovation and technological development.
For his part, the rector of the UPCT, Alejandro Díaz, explained that they hold the fourth such meeting in Cartagena, to give visibility as a city committed to innovation and collaboration between university and company.
The objective is to connect the needs of the university with which the company has, it is about making available to the companies the profiles best adapted to their demands.
He also stressed that, there are already 47 companies and institutions that have relied on the Network of Chairs of the UPCT.
“The network of chairs is more than companies, there are also institutions, the most important of which is the City Council of Cartagena, which has been with us for several years in the commitment to support research and innovation,†said the rector.
According to an internal survey of the Polytechnic University, the degree of employability of engineering students is 90%, with an average of 85% in all grades and 91% in the case of masters, while the degree of labor insertion in Spain is 70%.
Alejandro Díaz recalled that they have offered new titles that are being approved by the Quality Agency and the Ministry: a degree in Biomedical Engineering and another in Science and Data Engineering.
And two masters, one in Industry 4.0 and another in Bim Technology (digitized building management).
