The Government of the City of Cartagena has decided the gratuity of all the urban lines of the city and its adjacent neighborhoods and those that unite with the populations of Santa Ana, El Albujón, Miranda, La Ajorra, La Palma, Pozo Estrecho and La La Manga, which passes through La Unión, as a complementary measure to the councils issued this noon to the population to restrict the use of the private vehicle, in the event of the contamination of level 3 - the maximum - for suspended particles, activated in the municipality by the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia.
As will be remembered Wednesday, the measuring stations of La Aljorra, Alumbres, Escombreras Valley and Mompeán Bridge in Saint Lucia tripled the permitted values of 50 micrograms per cubic meter of air of suspended particles, due to the arrival of air masses of origin African on the Iberian Peninsula and the Balearic Islands, with concentrations of mineral dust in the range 50-200 micrograms per cubic meter in areas of the southeast and the peninsular east (see current values).
The forecasts indicate that this situation will be maintained in the coming days, which has led the City Council to adopt a series of measures contemplated in the framework protocol of municipal action in environmental episodes of pollution by nitrogen dioxide and PM10, among which there are restrictions on the movement through the Historic Center, the recommendation to reduce the use of private vehicles or share them and the cessation of activities that increase the presence of dust, smoke or other suspended particles.
Precisely to facilitate mobility for citizens who want to follow municipal recommendations and stop using their cars, the City Council has decided that tomorrow, Friday, all day buses will be free;
as well as stop using blowers in street cleaning and prohibit the plowing of fields or burning stubble, among others.
