This Saturday, January 18, the Barrios por el Clima project, led by the Barrio de San Antón in the program organized by the Department of Culture, Cartagena Piensa, will resume its activities with 'Cultivando San Antón', consisting of the first ecological plantation of an orchard in the neighborhood and that is possible thanks to the collaboration of the Department of Sustainable City and European Projects.
It will be from 10:00 am, in the orchard located in San Antón in Callejón with C / Aguamarina, 21, and all those who wish to participate can participate for free after registration or in the email cultivandosananton@gmail.com .
On this occasion, the San Antón neighborhood takes the reins of the Barrios por el Clima project and offers a program focused on the knowledge and dissemination of the great themes that surround climate change and, above all, what citizens can do.
From the project, numerous activities are proposed that are complemented by many others, all of them focusing on what citizens can do to improve our environment and for our way of life to be responsible.
The first plantation of the Cultivando San Antón garden will be dedicated to a very old crop: the potato, a symbol of a simple lifestyle, contrary to what we can see today in the streets, shops, restaurants ... Far from being a foodie food , the potato is the basis of food in many countries and territories since ancient times.
Brought and adopted from South America, its cultivation is long and extensive but does not require much effort, but a good and fertilized soil, and some ridges where you can grow your tubers.
In addition, its conservation allows us to feed ourselves throughout the year if the harvest has been good.
This activity, organized by the Baladre Cultural Association is directed by Lorena Rosique and presented by Ramón Navia.
