The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, held a meeting with Navantia president Susana de Sarriá on Tuesday morning, January 14, who explained the details of the 2019-2022 Strategic Plan, which the company has launched with the aim of modernizing its facilities and rejuvenating the workforce.
During the meeting, which was also attended by the head of Institutional Relations of Navantia, Susana Lapique, and the shipyard director in Cartagena, Agustín Álvarez Blanco, other topics of interest such as the defendant bike lane were also addressed, in whose request The government team measured with the Navy.
The mayor has expressed her intention to join forces with the factory and work together to improve shipyard access, facilitating mobility and the use of sustainable means of transport.
The mayor has also shown interest in the development of the Strategic Plan of the company in the municipality.
Over the past year, Navantia Cartagena has added a hundred workers to its workforce, both for the shipyard and for the engine and repair factory.
It should be noted that this transformation process initiated by the company also includes an operational efficiency plan, focused on technological innovation and digitalization in all centers belonging to Navantia.
“The stability of the workforce is not only vital for the company but also for our municipality, since the factory is a priority for the local economy.
For this to be possible, the workload must be guaranteed, and from the City Council we will continue defending it against the central administration, as our Government agreement was collected, ”recalled the mayor.
De Sarriá has also detailed the progress of the Cartagena factory in the construction of the four S80 submarines, which have already completed the union of the resistant hull of the first of the ships and, after summer, will launch the next step of the project that It is the launching.
