The Autonomous Community will transfer 4.8 million euros to the City of Cartagena to expedite the removal of elements with fiber cement in 32 schools in the municipality of Cartagena.
This measure will allow to undertake a first phase until 2023 in 15 centers.
The CEIP José María de La Puerta is already in the contracting process and will be the only one of the 32 projects that will be managed by the Autonomous Community, the rest of the centers will be the responsibility of the Cartagena City Council.
The withdrawal of fibrocementeo from the IES Juan Sebastián Elcano has advanced to the biennium of 2020-2021 at the request of the City Council and the contributions of the technicians.
During this period, performances will also be undertaken in the schools of La Concepción, Feliciano Sánchez, Virgen del Carmen, Antonio Ulloa, San Isidoro, Nuestra Señora de los Remedios, Santa Florentina, Carthago, the Santa Lucia Institute, and the Los Dolores nursery school. .
The calendar has been agreed at a meeting held on Friday, January 10 between the vice mayor, Noelia Arroyo, the Minister of Education and Culture of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, Esperanza Moreno, the Councilor for Education, Irene Ruiz.
In this regard, Arroyo has assured that "the calendar includes the planning to give certainty of all the actions to be carried out in Cartagena from 2020 to 2027 and that the ordering of dates is based on technical issues such as deterioration and seniority. of the centers. "
For its part, the Minister of Education, Esperanza Moreno, has sent "a message of tranquility to all families in the educational community of Cartagena because all schools that are affected by fiber cement will have a calendar to withdraw it on certain dates" .
