The Autonomous Community places the Port of Cartagena at the center of the logistics strategy of the Region of Murcia thanks to its "potential" and its privileged situation in the Mediterranean Sea.
The regional Executive is marked as a priority this year to promote the necessary measures to enhance the value of the new railway terminal that allows maritime-land intermodality.
The Minister of Development and Infrastructure, José Ramón Díez de Revenga, and the president of the Port Authority of Cartagena, Yolanda Muñoz, visited the port docks today and stressed that the commissioning of the Escombreras railway terminal will be a "decisive tool" to facilitate that regional companies can 'get on the train' of the Mediterranean Corridor.
Díez de Revenga stressed the importance of speeding up the implementation of this terminal, which has a budget of 26 million euros, "since it will provide great opportunities for entrepreneurs in the Region of Murcia."
It is a complex work that has an extension of 2.5 kilometers of the access branch and 4.3 kilometers, spread across the six tracks of the two built beaches.
The project includes the construction of the platform in those areas where it is missing and the superstructure of the whole set, including ballast, rails, sleepers, signaling and safety elements.
The regional official stressed that "the good harmony" of the Community and the Port will pay off soon, "the commitment to rail will be vital" to get the most out of the Port Authority.
The counselor recalled that the Port has invested 2.5 million in the rehabilitation and improvement of the terminal, and another 36 million in the Camarillas variant.
