On December 31, the Official Gazette of the Region (BORM) published the agreement of the Governing Council regarding the remuneration of the statutory personnel of the Murcia Health Service (SMS) for the year 2019.
Among other issues, the text includes the parameters set by the agency for the remuneration contemplated in terms of the extension of working hours due to surgical intervention.
Given the discrimination suffered by doctors and nurses at the hospital in Santa Lucía with respect to their counterparts at the Virgen de la Arrixaca hospital in Murcia, this municipal group filed a motion, during the Plenary session of the month of October, to urge the Ministry of Health to end this comparative grievance, equating workers in all areas of health.
Motion unfulfilled to demand equal treatment
The Cartagena initiative was approved with the abstention of the local government, who argued during his speech that the Ministry of Health was working on the matter and that, finally, the professionals of one and another hospital would be equated.
However, time has ended up giving the reason for the claim of doctors and nurses of Saint Lucia to see how, once again, their salaries are lower than those received in Murcia.
This circumstance has been assessed by the Cartagena councilor, María José Soler, asking for "the steps that could have been made from the local Executive after the motion was approved."
"The answer that the Government gave us was that we should not worry because the Ministry of Health was already working on the issue. Or what is the same, try to silence our voice so as not to bother your superiors."
"The fact of continuing to maintain the comparative grievance is the paradigm of the totalitarian attitudes of a Government, the Murcian, who finds accomplices in Cartagena to continue discriminating against us."
"We are eager to know what the two mayors will think about this matter and if they will be able to defend the interests of their neighbors or continue to look the other way so as not to bother San Esteban," the Cartagenerist councilor asked.
"Thus, local and regional government, some by omission and others by action, are once again allies to turn the inhabitants of Cartagena and Comarca into their punching ball. Neither the mandate of the Plenary stops them. On the contrary, they publish a year more than the work of a Cartagena is worth less than that of a Murcia professional. "
"The difference according to time zone varies between 68% to 100%. Therefore, an Arrixaca practitioner will receive 139.32 euros compared to 70.63 euros that a Cartagena professional will enter. In the case of nursing staff, the gap is also abysmal, 87.38 euros compared to 44.75 euros. 'La Trinca' will not worry because it is not his pocket that suffers, "lamented the mayor of MC.
To conclude, Soler has added that the situation is "known and admitted by the management of the area of Health II, since the high claims are numerous, and although they promised to solve and balance, they disappoint again by not remedying a flagrant injustice" .
"Again, in Cartagena we are victims of the action of politicians who govern in favor of the current, for acronyms and against the general interest."
