The City Council of Cartagena, through the municipal society Casco Antiguo, is investing 480,000 euros in the remodeling works of Sor Francisca de Armendáriz street, which already face its final stretch.
The works have suffered several delays due to the discovery of a Roman pool, but the progress of the works will allow residents to enjoy a new pedestrian area in the coming weeks between Villalba Long Street, Sr. Francisca de Armendáriz and prolongation of the Gloria street.
These days it is proceeding to the asphalting of the street that will have about 2,000 square meters of extension, of which 1,200 will be mixed pedestrian areas and the rest will be a green area, an accessible pedestrian itinerary and an ornamental fountain.
It will also include a children's play area.
These works will allow urbanizing the eastern end of Monte Sacro.
The councilor of Vía Pública, Juan Pedro Torralba, stressed that “the new area will allow residents of the surroundings of Monte Sacro to enjoy a public square in the heart of the city.
This work will mark the beginning of the comprehensive recovery plan of the historic center that the government team wants to implement throughout 2020 â€.
