This morning, the Regional Confederation of Business Organizations of Cartagena (COEC) held a meeting with the president of the Port Authority of Cartagena, María Yolanda Muñoz, to discuss the projects to be developed in 2020 that contribute to the economic development of the port of Cartagena and from the Region of Murcia.
This has been expressed by the president of COEC, Ana Correa, who has attended accompanied by Vice President Ginés Huertas and treasurer José Manuel Antón.
Correa has commented that they have treated the state of infrastructure, such as the launch of the ZAL, and has affirmed that “COEC does not renounce the construction of El Gorguel until, on the part of Brussels, there is no negative resolution of the same â€.
In this regard, he announced that they will go to Brussels "to present the project, its benefits and also to take into account the sensitivity that exists there on this project."
On the other hand, it has been agreed to expand the collaboration between COEC and the port by developing innovative ideas feedback.
"The port has to open to the city and visitors, we must generate leisure activities that allow both foreign visitors and residents to go to the port, so that we do not live with our backs to it," said Ana Correa, who wants to encourage activities such as 'Cartagena Puerto Home' and events that “give us repercussion at the international level, that attract thousands of visitors and that are a focus of generating visibility, employment and wealthâ€.
For its part, the president of the APC has said that for the port "the priority focus is El Gorguel because it is decisive for the development of the port, Cartagena and the Region of Murcia."
Yolanda Muñoz has added that they have tried ideas with the aim of energizing the city center, the surroundings of the port and the commercial area, promoting the arrival of cruise ships and cruise passengers, the necessary economic development of the new container terminal, the development of the ZAL and also a line of business related to oil farms with marine platforms “that allow us to dock ships of greater development capacity on the high seas.
