The Governing Council of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) and the Social Council approved this Friday the agreement reached yesterday with the Regional Assembly Board of Murcia, which allows the use of the Alberto Colao residence until 2022 for 100,672.44 Euros per year.
The extension will be signed on Monday before a notary.
At the end of the Governing Council, meeting in extraordinary session, the rector, Alejandro Díaz Morcillo, has expressed his gratitude and that of Eugenio Galdón, president of the Social Council, to the Bureau of the Assembly «having been sensitive to the requests of the UPCT with the ultimate goal of guaranteeing continuity of the public university residence service ».
The autonomous parliament has been the owner of the building since 2008. The UPCT plans to prepare the building that occupied the administrative building of the City Hall, located on Sor Francisca Armendáriz street, as a new university residence, which can provide accommodation for more than 200 students .
The last agreement between the Assembly and the University, signed at the end of 2013, is in force until December 31, 2019 and contemplated a penalty of 75,000 euros per year until delivery.
