The five components of the Regional Assembly Bureau and the representatives of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena have reached an agreement to extend the stay of the UPCT in the Alberto Colao residence, owned by the autonomous Parliament, until December 31, 2022, in exchange for compensation of about 100,600 euros per year.
Alberto Castillo, president of the Regional Assembly, has shown his satisfaction “because we have reached a beneficial agreement for both parties that will allow the UPCT to have a place where its students can stay, while the Teresa Armendáriz residence is built, which will be completed in December 2022. â€
Alejandro Díaz Morcillo, rector of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, thanked the members of the Bureau for their willingness to reach an agreement.
“We have made a decision that combines the interests of the Regional Assembly and the University, and that allows the UPCT to continue offering a public service, while the works of the new residence are carried out.
I am convinced that both institutions have won. â€
For his part, Eugenio Galdón, president of the Economic and Social Council of the UPCT, considers that “the dialogue between the president of the Assembly, the rector and the Social Council has allowed us to find a solution, in which the two institutions have worked to achieve A consensus that mostly benefits students.
It is a solution, which is the definitive one, the good one ".
Tomorrow Friday, the Governing Council and the Social Council of the UPCT will meet on an extraordinary basis.
If, as expected, the agreement is ratified by both bodies, on Monday, the 30th, the extension agreed between the Regional Assembly and the UPCT would be signed before a notary so that the University can dispose of the Alberto Colao residence until the end of 2022.
