The collection of the City of Cartagena for the tax on construction, facilities and works (ICIO) during the year 2019 has amounted to 4,464,000 euros, which represents an increase of 15.88 percent over the previous year, when they were collected 3,852,000 euros.
The Mayor and Town Planning Councilor, Ana Belén Castejón, said that these data show that the economic activity linked to the sector of reforms and construction, despite having no General Plan, has been better than in 2018. “Cartagena It continues to grow and so it must continue, ”he said.
The Department of Urban Planning has processed 7,982 files in 2019.
On the other hand, the Councilor for Urban Planning has indicated that it has also substantially improved municipal collection as a result of increased control over both urban and environmental violations.
Specifically, the City Council has imposed urban sanctions worth 771,797 euros, which represents a significant increase over the previous year, when only 49,584 euros were collected.
Regarding environmental infractions, sanctions amounting to 509,084 euros have been imposed, which represents 22.66 percent more than in 2018, when 415,036 euros were entered for this concept.
From the Government team and specifically from the Planning Area, precise instructions have been given to intensify inspection tasks both in urban and environmental matters, despite the lack of inspectors in the municipal workforce.
