The conditioning of the track has made the riders improve their times and that international brands, such as TRIUMPH, use it for the worldwide presentation of their new models.
The Cartagena Speed Circuit closes the year with a positive balance.
The conditioning carried out this summer on the track has allowed the riders to improve their times and have included it in their planning next year, which will undoubtedly result in a greater number of customers and greater occupancy during the next year.
Brands such as TRIUMPH have chosen this circuit for international events, such as those of last October, in which they were for 7 days in a row presenting, before hundreds of sports journalists, the 2020 model of the Street Triple RS First Ride.
In the month of January they return another 6 days to the Circuit of Cartagena.
The passage of time had caused serious problems on the asphalt, aggravated by the damage caused by falls and the wear of the track.
The tar had practically disappeared from the top (it was already a light gray color) that was causing its shelling by the continuous detachment of Chinese and pebbles from the agglomerate.
"It had been 12 years without a minimum maintenance," they indicate from the Speed Circuit.
The ideal would have been a comprehensive resurfacing, but the high cost that this entailed (more than 1 MM euros), was impossible to address.
Another option would have been to apply a light layer of 2 cm of asphalt, which meant more than 300,000 euros with the growth of the pianos, which could not be done either.
The collaboration that the Directorate of the Circuit has established with specialized companies in the area has allowed us to undertake, at a very low cost, this conditioning with excellent results: “Thanks to the application of a fluid emulsion of tars (EA40-RP) modified in Repsol Cartagena, at a rate of 0.70 kg / m2, applied at 65 degrees Celsius (after repairing the holes, rubs, cracks and undercuts that existed in the layout) has achieved a deep penetration of this material in the floor, whose final result is to avoid the detachment of asphalt stones, providing better grip, and waterproofing the surface, which prolongs the life of the track ”.
Maintenance work that has been approved by how many pilots have passed through the circuit (more than 1,800 since the end of September the season began).
The first to recognize the excellent result he is giving is the former World Cup driver and owner of one of the most prestigious driving schools (MAC 90) in the country: Miguel ngel Castilla.
During the month of September he was able to check the work done on site and, as he explained, “now the track is much safer than before.
My pilots are making faster laps than before, which indicates that they have security and confidence when facing the different curves.
An excellent job has been done. ”
In addition, Castilla said that having these time records is very important and decisive, because that way you can verify that the conditioning of the track has been adequate: “Now there are no level changes, we have better loopholes in the curves than before, no there are holes, there is much better grip and it has better vials.
Without a doubt, it has been greatly improved and the top speed is higher.

From the Circuit of Speed of Cartagena they continue working to continue consolidating it as a point of attraction for motor professionals, not only national but also international.
Miguel ngel Castilla, who is a user of many other circuits nationwide, explains that the Cartagena circuit stands out for its quality and proximity: "I rent many other circuits in Spain and for me it is essential to deal directly with the client and hospitality" he concluded.
