Hand in hand with the Chelonia Association, the Department of Education and Infrastructure of the City Council of Cartagena have collaborated with the Circular Seas project by collecting waste on the beach of Mar de Cristal last December 12.
52 students and 3 professors of the IES Las Salinas del Mar Menor were in charge of carrying out this activity that began in the institute with an environmental education talk to the participants on Circular Economy and Waste given by members of the Chelonia association.
Students collected all types of waste that were classified in bags of different colors, to weigh them taking note of the amounts for later comparison.
They also made some sculptures in the sand with the remains collected with the SOS MAR MENOR hashtag.
MARES CIRCULAR PROJECT
The Mares Circulars project is an ambitious project that began in 2018 and continues in 2019 thanks to the support of the Coca Cola Foundation and the work of the Chelonia Association, Ecomar Foundation and the Vertidos Cero Association together with 100 public and private entities collaborating in the different scenarios coastal with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food through the General Secretariat of Fisheries;
The Ministry considers that Circular Seas offers the opportunity to continue with the informative and informative actions related to marine reserves.
The project involves more than 170 public and private organizations, as well as more than 5,500 volunteers and 70 fishing vessels.
