The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, has described the decision of the Ministry of Ecological Transition to close the Transfer of the Tagus-Segura as an "unjustified punishment" and undeserved for farmers in the Cartagena countryside.
Castejón has recognized that it is necessary to take measures to solve the serious situation in which the Mar Menor is, as it has been claiming for years, although it considers that the closure of the Transfer does not solve anything.
“What is the fault of a farmer from Pozo Estrecho of what is happening in the Mar Menor?
For example, all farmers in the Cartagena field are being unjustifiably punished, ”the mayor reiterated.
It is necessary that the Ministry revoke its decision, according to Castejón, which considers that this measure is disproportionate and that decisions must be taken that contribute to improving the situation of farmers in the Region.
