This Saturday, December 21 from 9 am, the sports city Gómez Meseguer of the Cartagena Fútbol Club will be the venue of the XVIII Gómez Meseguer Christmas Soccer Tournament.
This is one of the acts of commemoration of the centenary of the Albinegra entity.
There will be 20 teams from different areas of Spain divided into the juvenile, prebenjamin and pacifier categories.
Among these clubs, there will be some First Division like Valencia and Levante.
Second clubs such as Almeria or Elche will also be represented.
The Department of Sports of Cartagena collaborates in this event, which is expected to attend more than 400 children.
The Councilor delegate of Sports of Cartagena, Diego Ortega, has presented the tournament accompanied by the sports director of Cartagena FC, Leo Gómez, the vice president of the Nicolás López club, and the marketing director of Practiser, a company that sponsors the event, Pedro González.
This edition of the Gómez Meseguer Christmas tournament, in addition to football, will have a lot of solidarity, as all participating children will give a gift to charities in Cartagena, such as Casa Cuna or the local delegation of Cáritas.
This campaign 'No child without a toy' means that the smallest of the city can live Christmas in the best possible way.
The mayor delegate of Sports of Cartagena, Diego Ortega, thanked the Cartagena Fútbol Club for his idea of ​​organizing this tournament, which is now 18 years old.
He has also had words of thanks to the sponsors and clubs participating in this edition, which will be a total of twenty.
In addition, he wanted to highlight the solidarity side with the toy collection campaign and the work of Practiser's health services during the competition.
“Thank you for having that special care with the sanitary operation that is so important, because in the end we want it to be a day of living together.
Nothing should happen, but if something happens, there are professionals who can respond quickly, â€says Ortega.
The sports director of the Cartagena Fútbol Club, Leo Gomez, detailed that there will be three categories in the tournament: fry, prebenjamin and lollipop.
In the juvenile tournament, 16 teams will participate.
In the prebenjamín there will be eight and in the lollipop there will be five clubs in Cartagena.
For the participation of all teams, four fields, three of soccer 7 and one of soccer 5 will be made available.
In addition to the sporting aspect, from the organization of the Gómez Meseguer Christmas Tournament they want to ensure the health of all participants.
Therefore, Practiser will have a physiotherapy service and an ambulance in the sports city Gómez Meseguer during the celebration of the tournament, as pointed out by the director of marketing of Practiser, Pedro González.
Admission to the Gómez Meseguer Christmas Tournament is free.
