Responsible and users of ASIDO Cartagena have collected this morning the solidarity check of the initiative of workers of the UPCT 'Drop by Drop', which has raised 3,680 euros for the NGO most voted by employees who donate one euro from their monthly payroll.
As is traditional, the delivery of the check has occurred after a tasting of biscuits and coffee pot and has served for donors to know the beneficiaries of their solidarity contribution.
"We will dedicate the amount donated to the areas where we have more needs, school and employment," said Manoli Otón, technical director of Asido Cartagena, after collecting the prize from the godmother of his candidacy, Immaculate Martinez.
In this edition the workers of the Polytechnic of Cartagena chose the destination of the proceeds 'Drop by drop' among 15 different oenegés.
"In the educational sphere we carry out activities at our headquarters and other support activities in schools, which include initiatives to raise awareness among students' classmates with Down syndrome," said Otón.
In the employment section, the NGO carries out “one-on-one†accompaniments with a job coach who helps the person employed to start their professional activity.
ASIDO (Association for the Comprehensive Care of People with Down Syndrome) Cartagena supports since 1993 people with this syndrome and their families.
The 'Drop by Drop' initiative was launched three years ago by a group of workers, both teachers and researchers, as well as administration and services staff of the UPCT.
Members join donate one euro of the monthly payroll to the project.
At the end of the year, any participant can nominate an association and among all choose which association will be the recipient of all proceeds during that annuity.
The more than 3,000 euros raised in 2017 went to the children's social dining room in San Diego.
The 3,350 euros of 2018 were donated to the Association Against Cancer, for the local groups of San Pedro del Pinatar and Cartagena.
