The head of the Regional Executive presides over the act of inauguration as president of the Port Authority of Cartagena de Yolanda Muñoz, "which we know will be up to par because nobody will be able to overcome him in work, professionalism and ability"

Stresses the Mediterranean Corridor, the AVE, the ZAL and the expansion of the docks as projects that "must move from paper to reality and become the development of the whole society"

The head of the regional Executive, Fernando López Miras, presided today the act of inauguration of Yolanda Muñoz as new president of the Port Authority, where he stressed that "the Port of Cartagena and the development of major projects linked to it should lead the progress of the whole of the Region of Murcia and of Spain ".

"The Mediterranean Corridor, the arrival of the AVE, the connection with the Logistics Activities Zone (ZAL) and the expansion of its container docks must pass from paper to reality, and become the development of the whole society," said López Miras .

He also stressed that the port "is a whole in Cartagena", and referred to different sectors involved such as fishing, sports, tourism and knowledge and research through the Polytechnic University.

During his speech, the president of the Community stressed that in the file for the declaration of Cartagena as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, initiated by the regional government in collaboration with the City Council, "it is recognized that Cartagena is a place of a meeting of cultures, the scene of some of the most notable events that have been experienced, and all that history is that of its port ".

In addition, he referred to the Port Authority as "one of the most emblematic institutions of how many exist in our Region, a living, dynamic entity, perfectly involved in the day-to-day life of the city", and pointed to the need to "work with the entities and maritime professionals, with agents and consignees, with the industries that look towards the port and with those that should do so too. "

In this regard, he also referred to the importance of "working every day with different institutions and with the state, regional and local administration."

Regarding the new president of the Port Authority, Yolanda Muñoz, López Miras said that "we know that it will be up to par, because nobody is going to be able to overcome him in work and professionalism since he is endorsed by an inexhaustible capacity".

Thus, he said that "it is a real satisfaction, of course, to see leading women institutions that have earned it with their effort", and stressed that "for the first time, it will be a woman who now has this responsibility and that responds to merit, capacity and commitment, and not a quota. "

To conclude, López Miras also wanted to thank the work of the former president of the Port Authority, Joaquín Segado, as well as the work that Fermín Rol and Pedro Pablo Hernández have developed provisionally for a few months in the Port Authority.
