The City of Cartagena has signed, this Monday, December 16, the collaboration agreement for the Local Pact for the prevention of social exclusion in the neighborhoods of Lo Campano and Los Mateos.
The institutional act held in the Ceremony Hall of the City Hall has been attended by the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, the vice mayor, Noelia Arroyo, the second deputy mayor, Manuel Padín, the councilor delegate of the area of ​​Social Services , Mercedes García, the mayor of the area of ​​Education, Employment and Business, Irene Ruiz and the councilor of the Decentralization and Citizen Participation area, Diego Ortega.
Also, there have been the councilors of the municipal corporation, Arantxa Pérez and Gonzalo Abad.
The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, said that the objective of this agreement is "to continue promoting the development of two neighborhoods that were abandoned for too many years: Los Mateos and Lo Campano".
He has also pointed out that these two neighborhoods deserve “a present and a future of growth, cooperation, accessibility, solidarity and development.
In short, a present and a future of success, in which abandonment, marginalization and discrimination, among many other issues, are a thing of the past. â€
To build the present and future of these neighborhoods, the mayor has asked for the collaboration of all administrations, public institutions, entities and neighbors, since “we must move forward hand in hand to respond to collective problems from real citizen participation based on a territorial approach and the value of all available resources.
In short, it's about working for the neighborhood, with the neighborhood and from the neighborhood. â€
In addition, he has highlighted some of the projects or initiatives carried out in Lo Campano and Los Mateos, such as the Fénix Manifesto, the ADLE Neighborhood Program, socio-cultural promotion activities such as the Conecta program or housing interventions, among many others.
In this process, administrations and third sector entities will act as agents of change and citizens will be the real engine of it.
According to the mayor of Cartagena, the coordinators of associations of Lo Campano and Los Mateos play "a fundamental role", since they depend on the mobilization of their neighbors.
Castejón has finished explaining that this Pact is not “one more project, it is a commitment to the future of these neighborhoods and their neighbors, through the implementation of actions aimed at improving the urban environment and the empowerment of their neighbors. .
All this will be achieved through socio-cultural promotion, increasing the level of education and improving employability, from a sustainable, inclusive, egalitarian and respectful approach to diversity â€.
The Local Pact, subsidized by the City Council of Cartagena, the Ministry of Family and Equality of the Region of Murcia and the European Funds, has the collaboration of the different Councilors of the City Council, Family Action, the Cultural Association the Botica del Libro, Cáritas , Fundación Tienda Asilo San Pedro, Rascasa, Health Area II of Cartagena, IES Santa Lucía, Educational Centers Aníbal and Asdrúbal, the Coordinator of Barrio de Los Mateos and the Coordinator of Barrio de Lo Campano.
