On the occasion of the commemoration of the 250th anniversary of Beethoven's birth, the contest Between Ropes and Metals of the Department of Youth and the Conservatory of Cartagena has launched the activity 'Beethoven on wheels' with live performances interpreting works by the composer in the urban bus of line 18 that goes to the Hospital Santa Lucía.
Thus, throughout this Monday, December 16, the day Ludwig van Beethoven was born, seven components of the Young Symphony Orchestra of Cartagena (JOSCT) will remember the musician with brief performances throughout the journey between 11:30 and 13:00 and from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Prior to the start of the first performances, the activity has been presented at the bus stop in front of the Department of Youth on the Alfonso XIII promenade by the hand of the Councilor for Youth, David Martínez, together with the director of the Young Symphony Orchestra of Cartagena, Álvaro Pintado, with the presence of the director of the Conservatory, María José Castaño, and representatives of Autobuses ALSA.
The councilor recalled that the contest recalls each year the figure of a composer since the XX edition, being Beethoven this year, “just today he would be 249 years old, that's why we want to pay tribute to this great composer and start this year 2020 with this activity in which the young people of the young symphony orchestra of Cartagena will interpret the composer's best known works â€.

“With this activity you will have a very different experience to the way that musicians usually have when it comes to performing music and also for the public to consume it,†says the conductor, “this activity gives the starting signal to all the activities around Beethoven. â€
He also recalled that the entire orchestra will take the stage of the Auditorium and Conference Center El Batel for its traditional Christmas concert on December 30 with the program dedicated entirely to Beethoven.
Between ropes and metals is a regional contest that promotes the City of Cartagena and the Professional Conservatory of Music of the port city to facilitate the artistic career of thousands of young people.
In this XXIII edition, the contest honors one of the greats in history: Lv Beethoven.
In 2020, the 250th anniversary of his birth (1770-1827) is commemorated and, from Entre Cuerdas y Metales, he joins this celebration around the figure of this creative genius, whose music continues to inspire and enrich the lives of people from all the world.
