One more year, the Municipal Toy Collection Campaign begins under the slogan 'Juguetea.
A toy, a smile ', organized by the City Council of Cartagena through the Department of Social Services, in collaboration with other departments and numerous companies and entities, and will be underway until December 27.
The opening ceremony of the collection point has taken place in the courtyard of the San Miguel Administrative Building, where the only collection point will be installed, with the assistance of the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, with the assistance of the Vice Mayor, Noelia Arroyo, and the Councilors of Social Services, Mercedes García, and Festejos, Juan Pedro Torralba, as well as the mayor María Casajús, Alejandra Gutiérrez and Cristina Mora, who have also delivered toys.
The purpose of the campaign is none other than getting any boy or girl in the municipality to stay this Christmas without a gift.
The mayor wanted to highlight in her speech the importance of the age range of 9 to 12 years, "Cartagena has even more than 1,200 children who are not guaranteed a gift for this Christmas."
Specifically, there are a total of 22 non-profit associations that have sent 1,271 requests for gifts for children in the municipality.
Last year, the 'Juguetea' campaign got more than 1,800 toys and this year aims to overcome that figure thanks to the volunteers who will be in charge of collecting the toys and classifying them in the courtyard of the City Hall Administrative Building.
The collection schedule will be Monday through Friday from 10am to 2pm until December 27th.
Those responsible for distributing gifts before the night of Reyes will be the fourteen social action entities collaborating this year Telecartagena, La Armada, the Artillery Regiment, the Marine Corps School, Practiser, the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, UCAM , Hospital Santa Lucía, FC Cartagena and its Foundation, Jimbee Cartagena, Regional Assembly, Calle Salsa, ONCE and ISEN.
The event has been enlivened by the Marine Corps School Band, who have played carols next to the start of toy delivery after the mayor's speech from some participating associations such as ACCEM, who his representative has given a gift aimed at the most demanded age range, from 9 to 12 years.
From the end of the campaign until January 2, the toys will be classified and on day 3 delivery will be made to the requesting social action entities, so that they can be delivered to families between January 4 and 5 , so that finally on day 6 each child has his gift of Kings.
Any citizen who wants to collaborate can do so by buying a new toy and deliver it directly at this Pick-up Point or through the collaborating entities that will subsequently send them to the San Miguel Administrative Building.
