Repsol joins the "Return of talent to Cartagena" program (12/12/2019)

The refinery adheres to the project of the Department of Youth to facilitate young people who went abroad new opportunities for professional development in Cartagena.

The refinery joins the 'Return to Cartagena' program promoted by the Department of Youth of the City of Cartagena.

With this incorporation, Repsol aims to contribute to the creation of job opportunities for young people between 18 and 34 years old who have been born, lived or studied in Cartagena, who reside outside of Spain and want to return.

On the occasion of this accession, the deputy director of the refinery, Luis Roque, received the Councilor for Youth, David Martínez, at the Repsol visitor center.

During the meeting, the mayor has learned about the company's facilities in the Escombreras Valley and the training and professional growth opportunities offered by Repsol to its employees.

Currently, about 900 professionals working in a wide variety of areas and equipment work in the refinery.

In addition to the permanent staff and the new additions, the refinery has a job bank that has been accessed by 27 new people this year.

For Luis Roque, the incorporation of Repsol into the 'Return to Cartagena' program is another example of the refinery's commitment to the social and economic development of its surroundings.

Training and employability

In the refinery, renovation is the key to keep moving forward and that is why Repsol is committed to new talent as an engine of change.

In 2012, it was the first company in the Region of Murcia to implement Dual FP, allowing students to receive training simultaneously in the educational center and in the refinery itself.

Since the launch of this educational modality, around 80% of the students of Industrial Chemistry and Laboratory, Control and Quality, have joined the Repsol staff in Cartagena.

In addition, the refinery promotes other types of training such as internships at UPCT and UMU students and chemical plant operator courses.

In the last two calls, at the end of the studies, 90% of the students have been incorporated.

The refinery contributes with these and other actions to the professional development of its environment, fulfilling the Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations, contributing to the creation of decent work and economic growth.
