Christmas is the most endearing celebration of the calendar and for this reason Cartagena Puerto de Culturas has prepared a program based on a time travel to discover how the gods, mythology, a Roman family or Emperor Augustus himself celebrated this period of the year , which coincided with the end of the harvests and the winter solstice.
Thus, during the three scheduled activities for the family audience, the differences and similarities of our Christmas with the festivities that Roman families lived will be announced.
These activities have limited capacity.
“CHRISTMAS STORY: THE 3 WIZARD GODS”
A children's musical based on the traditional story of Charles Dickens with a great turn towards the classical world, where the three wizard gods of antiquity will make it possible to celebrate the day of the Invincible Sun.
It will be held in the Barrio del Foro Romano on December 26, 27 and 28 and January 2,3 and 4.
They will begin at 12:30 pm and will cost 8 euros in general fare and 4 for the Cartagena de Puerto Culturas Club.
“THE GODDESS FORTUNA COMES HOME FOR CHRISTMAS”
The goddess of Fortune awaits us in the Roman house to discover how a child lived this period of the year in a Roman family.
During the theatrical visit to the house of the first century AD, the goddess Fortuna, between songs and a thousand curiosities, will give us a special gift so that luck is conducive to us in this new year.
It will be at Casa de la Fortuna from December 26 to 29 and from January 2 to 4.
It will be at 12 and 13 hours for 4 euros in normal rate and 2 euros for members of the Cartagena de Puerto Culturas Club.
"MERRY CHRISTMAS.
BOND SATURNALIA ”
A visit to know how the Romans celebrated the Saturn festivities, which during the tour in the museum will be discovering details of Augustus' favorite festivals.
The activity will end at the Roman Theater, where visitors will be proposed to sing a carol and check the building's acoustics.
It will be in the Museum of the Roman Theater of Cartagena from December 22 to 31 and from January 2 to 5.
The price of the activity will be 3 euros.
On the other hand, guided tours continue every Saturday and Sunday “Cartagena, flavor three cultures” and “Citizens of an Empire” to learn about two fundamental periods in the history of Cartagena.
And for those who want to approach the sites in a different way, the Roman Theater and the Barrio del Foro Romano offer virtual tours, which through various devices will be able to know the site as it was in ancient times.
