The Cartagena Carnival for next year, 2020, begins its preparations to fill the city with light, color, feathers, sequins, costumes, masks, music and lots of dancing.
The Reception Hall of the City Hall has hosted on the morning of this Tuesday, December 10, the presentation of the winning poster and those chosen to represent Don Carnal and Dońa Cuaresma during the holidays, which will be held from February 14 to 25.
The event was attended by the councilor of the area of ​​Citizen Security, Public Road and Celebrations, Juan Pedro Torralba, the president of the Carnival, Carmen Sánchez and the vice president, Eduardo Pignatelli.
The mayor of Festejos, Juan Pedro Torralba, said that "we have to combine all efforts by municipal and regional administrations to ensure that the Cartagena Carnival obtains in 2020 the Declaration of National Tourist Interest."
Currently, this holiday is declared of Regional Tourist Interest.
Before presenting the poster to the media, the president of the Carnival, Carmen Sánchez, said that those chosen to represent Don Carnal and Dońa Cuaresma next year were: in adult category, Ana de Haro García, from the troupe Marchosita and Adrián Hernández, from Antares and in the children's category, cousins ​​Bernal, Patricia and Gonzalo, from the Divertilandia group.
Dońa Cuaresma, Ana de Haro García, said that she is “very happy” for this election and stressed that she can only advance from her staging “the traditional greeting of the Queen of Spain, Dońa Leticia”.
For his part, Don Carnal, Adrián Hernández, has confirmed that with the show that is going to be mounted "the Sports Pavilion will fall down".
The small members of Divertilandia have affirmed that “only some of their Salesian colleagues know that they will be Don Carnal and Dońa Cuaresma” and that they will have fun and dance a lot.
The Cartagena Carnival 2020 will take on the image of Rubén Alejandro Lucas's work, 'Full color'.
The image announcing the parties was chosen on Friday, November 22 by the jury of the Carnival Poster Contest, which is part of the councilor of the area of ​​Celebrations, Juan Pedro Torralba.
The image has been selected from among the 73 works that have been submitted to the contest, more than in the previous edition, and that have been exhibited for several weeks in the basement of El Corte Inglés.
The vice president of Carnival, Eduardo Pignatelli, explained that Rubén Alejandro Lucas's poster “is made in watercolors, whose main image is a happy woman, full of color and fantasy, which represents the role of women in Carnival and in the society in general, about iconic Cartagena monuments ”.
FOOD COLLECTION
The Carnival Federation is collaborating with the Cartagena Food Bank in the collection of non-perishable products until December 22.
Those interested can donate food, which will be collected at the offices of the Federation, on Gisbert Street, in Cartagena.
